SHAH ALAM, Sept 6 - Four PARA SUKMA Selangor 2026 events scheduled to take place today have been postponed due to worsening haze conditions.
State executive councillor for youth, sports and entrepreneurship Mohd Najwan Halimi said the organising committee of SUKMA XXII and Para SUKMA Selangor 2026 made the decision after receiving advice from the Environment Department, Health Department and a special technical committee that monitors the situation from time to time.
“The Air Pollution Index (API) reading in Shah Alam and Klang as of noon was 169, which is considered unhealthy.
“This has forced the organisers to postpone the Para Athletics event at the UiTM Stadium, Para Swimming at the Selangor Aquatics Complex, Para Archery at the Selangor State Youth and Sports Complex (Kombes), and Field Bowling in Bayuemas, Klang,” he said in a statement today.
Najwan, who is also the SUKMA XXII and Para SUKMA Selangor 2026 organising committee deputy chairman, said updates on the postponement and resumption of events would be provided from time to time, depending on API readings in the competition areas.
The Para SUKMA Selangor competition began yesterday, with events taking place in the morning, including Para Athletics, Powerlifting, Para Archery, Para Badminton, Boccia, Table Tennis, Chess and Field Bowling.
