KOTA KINABALU: Members of the public can benefit from a range of free health screenings and examinations at Hari Kesihatan 2026, themed “Healthy Together, Happy Families”, at Dewan Serbaguna Damai, Luyang, today (Oct 11).
The event, scheduled from 8am to 3pm, is organised by Persatuan Wanita Cemerlang Sabah in collaboration with the Likas Community Development Leader Unit (UPPM Likas), Luyang Community Development Leader Unit (UPPM Luyang), the Ministry of Health Malaysia and the Kota Kinabalu District Health Office.
The programme is also supported by the Liberal Democratic Party (LDP), businesses, sponsors and community organisations to promote health awareness and preventive healthcare.
Organising Chairperson Jessie Goh said the initiative aimed to encourage the public, particularly senior citizens and families, to undergo regular health screenings for early detection and a better understanding of their health conditions.
She expressed her appreciation to Likas Community Development Leader Glenna Wong and Luyang Community Development Leader Simon Chin for their involvement and contributions towards making the event possible.
Goh said collaboration among community organisations and government agencies would help bring accessible healthcare services closer to residents and benefit more people.
Among the services offered are general health checks, blood glucose and cholesterol tests, blood pressure checks, eye and dental screenings, women’s health screenings, chiropractic spine and posture assessments, and bone density screening.
The programme will also feature a blood donation drive, health information booths and other health-related services.
Free influenza vaccinations will be available to senior citizens aged 60 and above, subject to limited supplies. Eligible individuals are encouraged to take advantage of the opportunity.
Visitors can also take part in the Health Passport Stamp Challenge. Those who complete the designated activities and collect six stamps will be eligible to redeem a free goodie bag, while stocks last.
Wong urged the public to bring their parents, elderly family members and loved ones to participate in the programme and make their health and well-being a priority.
“Good health begins with everyday awareness and care, rather than waiting until health problems arise. Through this initiative, we hope to encourage more people to take an active role in understanding their health conditions while reminding everyone of the importance of caring for the health and well-being of their parents, elders and loved ones,” she said.
