American rapper French Montana has offered to help a New York cab driver following the Knicks’ wild celebrations.

The Knicks ended a 63-year championship drought by defeating Victor Wembanyama and the San Antonio Spurs in a five-game series.

On Saturday night, the streets of New York were filled with fans celebrating their long-awaited NBA Finals victory.

The crazy scenes throughout the night were entertaining to watch, but they also caused some significant damage to the city.

Here is the story behind French Montana reaching out to help a cab driver who was caught up in the Knicks fans’ celebrations.

What happened to the New York cab driver during the Knicks celebrations

While most cities in the United States prefer the NFL, New Yorkers love basketball more than any other sport.

That is why the Knicks fanbase has always had a reputation for being the most passionate in the NBA.

That passion often causes chaos outside Madison Square Garden as supporters do not hold back in their celebrations.

However, the reaction to the Knicks’ NBA Finals victory on Saturday was unlike anything seen before in US sports.

Thousands of Knicks fans lined the streets throughout the night, with many climbing lampposts and buses, or hanging out of windows.

An unfortunate cab driver was caught up in the middle of the celebrations and could not escape as fans surrounded his car.

Some people went too far, damaging his car by jumping on the roof, with the dejected driver watching helplessly.

Thankfully, after watching a viral clip of the incident, rapper French Montana may have come to the rescue.

“Somebody find him for me so we can help him get back on his feet,” he tweeted, suggesting that he would pay for the damages.

It remains to be seen whether French Montana has contacted the cab driver, but it was a generous offer nonetheless.
