In a fresh ‘email threat’, some unknown miscreants have threatened to target Chandigarh Railway Station, the Municipal Corporation office and the District Courts between June 3 and 6 with a series of blasts.
Previously, various schools, government buildings and court complexes have received these mails carrying threatening messages of ‘bomb blast’. The fresh threat was received by the office of the Chandigarh Mayor.
The mail referred to as being sent by the Kahlistan National Army, carried controversial messages… ‘Na Hindu, Na Hindustan…Delhi, Haryana, Punjab Banayga Khalistan. Bomb Blasts, IEDs, and Grenades, Municipal Offices, Mayor’s Offices, District Courts, June 3-5. June 6 IED Grenade attacks at Railway Stations Tracks.”
“I have been informed about the threatening email received by my office. Such cowardly threats neither intimidate me nor deter me from my duty. I do not care about threats. I have always worked for the people of Chandigarh, and I will continue to serve the city with the same dedication, commitment and courage. At the same time, I have requested the Chandigarh Police and concerned security agencies to thoroughly investigate the matter and take strict action against those responsible. My resolve remains unchanged — Chandigarh First, Always,” said Chandigarh Mayor Saurabh Joshi.
The city has received a wave of such threats in recent months. Last month, noted schools, including Delhi Public School in Sector 40, St Stephen’s School, Sector 45, and Chitkara International School, received bomb threat emails.
In previous months, several educational institutions, Punjab Secretariat, Air India flights and 26 schools received similar emails.
