
A national-level team from the Office of the Registrar General of India (RGI), Census Department, New Delhi, and Census Office, Chandigarh, on Friday conducted a detailed review of the ongoing Census 2026–27 activities in various blocks of Amritsar district.
The high-level team included Joint Director Harmeet Singh Madh, Assistant Director Swadesh Pratap Singh Shakya, and Statistical Investigator-I Jai Narayan.
During the visit, the team inspected the progress of Census operations, administrative arrangements, field-level preparations, and the functioning of employees engaged in Census-related work across various blocks of the district.
The team reviewed the process of data collection, record maintenance, technical arrangements and training initiatives being undertaken in connection with the Census.
Officials also held a special meeting with Amritsar Deputy Commissioner Dalwinderjit Singh, during which detailed discussions were held regarding the current progress and implementation of Census activities in the district. Strategies for ensuring effective execution of Census operations and completion of all procedures within the stipulated timeframe were also deliberated upon during the meeting.
The Deputy Commissioner assured the team that all Census-related work in the district would be completed within the prescribed timeframe in accordance with the guidelines issued by the Government of India.
He said the district administration was working with full seriousness to ensure smooth and transparent execution of the Census process, and that all necessary support and guidance were being provided to the employees engaged in the important task.
