MANILA, Philippines — The Philippine National Police (PNP) on Wednesday said efforts are being sustained to secure full cooperation and complete compliance in the implementation of the revoked firearm licenses and outstanding legal processes involving Senator Ronald “Bato” Dela Rosa.
PNP Chief, Police General Jose Melencio C. Nartatez, Jr. noted the latest turnover of six firearms by Senator Dela Rosa’s camp, bringing the total number of surrendered guns to 26, following the revocation of his License to Own and Possess Firearms covering 117 registered firearms.
“We acknowledge this latest turnover as a step toward compliance, and we have directed our personnel at the Firearms and Explosives Office (FEO) and local units to ensure that these items are properly accounted for, inventoried, and secured in accordance with our strict regulatory protocols,” Nartatez said.
The turnover happened on Monday at the residence of the senator in Silang, Cavite.
His legal representative handed the firearms to personnel from the PNP-FEO, the Regional Civil Security Unit-Calabarzon, and local police units.
The items were placed under temporary safekeeping pending verification and documentation.
The PNP-FEO earlier issued the revocation order covering all firearms registered under Dela Rosa’s name under Republic Act 10591 or the Comprehensive Firearms and Ammunition Regulation Act. The directive requires full surrender and accounting of all covered firearms.
