SANDAKAN: PKR Secretary-General Datuk Dr Fuziah Salleh has denied claims that multiple party branch leaders in Sabah are unhappy with the state’s party machinery management.
She clarified that after meeting the branch chiefs allegedly involved, it was confirmed that the complaints came from only one or two individuals and did not reflect the overall sentiment of the leadership.
“I met with the branch leaders said to have made the statements. They informed me it was just one or two people, and the remarks do not represent the group’s true views,” she told reporters after inspecting the Menu Rahmah initiative at Mydin Hypermarket here, Sunday.
Fuziah said the meeting helped clear misunderstandings, and all parties are now united in focusing on winning the upcoming elections.
“After our discussion, they are satisfied and committed to helping the party, led by the Prime Minister, win as many seats as possible,” she said.
Regarding the structure of Sabah’s election machinery, Fuziah emphasised that all operations at the branch and state constituency levels are led by local members.
“The machinery is fully local. I have personally audited and confirmed this,” she added, noting that leaders from outside Sabah are only involved in providing logistical support such as computers and photocopiers—not decision-making or control.
Her statement was in response to a MalaysiaKini report alleging that 17 Sabah PKR branch chiefs and deputies held a closed-door meeting in Kota Kinabalu on Thursday over concerns of central interference in party machinery and candidate selection.
