The Gurugram police have arrested the alleged mastermind of a gang accused of mortgaging and selling luxury cars taken on rent for weddings and events. Earlier, the police had arrested another gang member and recovered a Fortuner from his possession.

According to the police, the complainant filed a complaint on October 17, 2025, alleging that he had handed over four luxury vehicles to Krishna Dixit and his associates for use in weddings and events. The accused initially paid rent for one vehicle to gain his trust, but later stopped payments. They also allegedly took around Rs 10 lakh from the complainant online on the pretext of organising a wedding event.

The complainant later discovered that the accused had mortgaged or sold his vehicles to other people. Following the complaint, a case was registered at New Colony police station under relevant sections.

A Crime Unit Sector-17 team arrested the alleged mastermind, identified as Krishna Dixit (23), a resident of Kharagjeet Nagar in Mainpuri district of Uttar Pradesh, on Friday.

During interrogation, the police found that Dixit, along with his associate Harish and others, allegedly conspired to take the vehicles on rent and later mortgaged or sold them instead of paying rent. The police said Dixit is already facing another case of theft and cheating in Gurugram.

“Another accused, Harish Khatri, had already been arrested earlier and a Fortuner was recovered from his possession. We are questioning the accused,” a Gurugram police spokesperson said.
