Kota Kinabalu: Three men were ordered to enter their defence on a charge of gang raping an 18-year-old girl.

Sessions Court Judge Elsie Primus made the order for Mohd Badrul Said Himran, Nasratul Aiman Nasruddin, both 26, and Zulhilmi Amdin, 29, after ruling that the prosecution had established a prima facie case against the trio on Monday.

The court set Feb 13 for the trio’s defence. The trio is accused of raping the girl at about 7pm on Jan 12, 2019 at a house in Kg Jawi-Jawi, Kota Belud.

The offence, under Section 375B of the Penal Code, provides for a jail term of between 10 and 30 years, and whipping, on conviction.

The prosecution had called 11 witnesses during the hearing.

Deputy Public Prosecutor Mas Izzaty Lokman conducted the prosecution while the trio were represented by counsel Azhier Farhan Arisin.

The court extended the bail that posted by the trio pending the disposal of their case.
