KOTA KINABALU: Parti Gemilang Anak Negeri Sabah (Gas) has dismissed allegations that it is being secretly funded to split votes in the coming 17th State Election.
Its President Datuk Jismit Japong said the claims were baseless and meant to discredit the party, stressing that Gas was a genuine movement formed to defend the rights and interests of Sabahans.
He said Gas was raising its own funds without support from other political parties or individuals, adding that the priority was to field credible candidates capable of earning the people’s mandate.
Jismit also argued that wealth should not be the main measure of a political party’s strength, warning that excessive funding could lead to corruption in politics.
He said Gas was formed to offer candidates who can bring positive contributions and meaningful development initiatives that would spur economic growth in their constituencies.
