
Strephen Holt and Justin Brownlee led Barangay Ginebra’s searing first quarter offensive as it buried TNT, 116-102, to grab a 2-1 lead in their PBA Season 50 Commissioner’s Cup Finals on Sunday at the SM Mall of Asia Arena in Pasay City.
A season gate attendance record of 18,607 came to witness the Gin Kings put on an impressive effort that saw them shoot a scorching 77.6 percent in the opening period alone en route to taking a 35-16 bulge.
Holt scored 15 points, laced with 3-of-3 shooting from three-point zone, while Brownlee had 10, including four assists during that stretch.
Brownlee continued his hot-shooting in the next three quarters as he finished with a team-high 41 points, making 16 of 21 attempts, along with seven rebounds, seven assists and three steals.
Holt added 23 points, while Scottie Thompson scored 15, 11 rebounds and 11 assists in a triple-double effort.
RJ Abarrientos chipped in 15 while Japeth Aguilar finished with 11 and six assists for Ginebra.
Chris McCullough led TNT with 44 points and 13 rebounds, but had seven turnovers.
