TNT dictated the tempo from the get-go but had to hold off Barangay Ginebra’s furious fourth quarter rally to score a 101-94 win, tying their PBA Season 50 Commissioner’s Cup Finals series at 1-1 on Friday night at the Smart Araneta Coliseum in Quezon City.
Calvin Oftana led TNT’s offense with 31 points, nailing a pair of foul shots with 18.7 seconds left to fend off the Gin Kings’ late-game rally.
The Tropang 5G led by as many as 21 points but cooled off in the fourth quarter in the face of the Gin Kings’ uprising led by Isaac Go, Jeremiah Gray and RJ Abarrientos.
Game 3 is set this Sunday at the SM Mall of Asia Arena in Pasay City.
Import Chris McCullough scored 19 points and grabbed 16 rebounds, while Jordan Heading chipped in 14 points for the Tropang 5G. Rey Nambatac, RR Pogoy,and Brandon Ganuelas-Rosser each had 10 for TNT.
Justin Brownlee led Ginebra with 24 points while Abarrientos added 21 points.
