
A 10-year-old girl is feared drowned while swimming in a river in Kg Piasau, here, Saturday afternoon.
It is learnt that the victim was swimming with several friends before being swept away by strong currents.
Kota Belud Fire and Rescue Station Chief Muhammad Syazwan Latun said the department received an emergency call at 2.41pm and 10 officers and personnel, along with three fire trucks, were deployed to the scene.
“Upon arrival, the team gathered information and immediately conducted a search and rescue (SAR) operation around the river using the surface rescue method,” he said.
