SHAH ALAM – The Yang Dipertuan Besar of Negeri Sembilan Tuanku Muhriz Tuanku Munawir has publicly reprimanded Menteri Besar Datuk Ismail Lasim.
In several videos circulating on social media, the ruler was seen telling a group of people at a mosque that Ismail had written to the Keeper of the Rulers’ Seal to say that Tuanku Muhriz was no longer the state's Yang Dipertuan Besar.
Tuanku Muhriz then questioned why Ismail wanted an audience with him.
"Why does he want to see me? Until he retracts what he said earlier, go away.
"Don't see me, I don't want to see you. Do you understand? I am Yang Dipertuan Besar, but you said I am not," Tuanku Muhriz said angrily before turning directly towards Ismail.
Ismail responded with the angkat sembah, the customary gesture of greeting royalty.
Mosque congregants were then heard chanting "Daulat Tuanku."
Negeri Sembilan has been embroiled in a royal crisis since April, when four individuals claiming to be the Undang announced the purported removal of Tuanku Muhriz as the ruler of the state.
The same disputed Undangs were also said to have declared Tunku Nadzaruddin Tuanku Ja’afar the new Yang Dipertuan Besar at a ceremony held at a five-star hotel in Melaka in June.
Last month, Ismail backed a statement issued by the state executive council, which purportedly confirmed Tuanku Muhriz’s removal as the Yang Dipertuan Besar of Negeri Sembilan.
Following this, Tuanku Muhriz revoked the appointments of all members of the state executive council.
