Kota Kinabalu: It was the biggest medal haul for Sabah athletes at the Sarawak Sukma Games on Tuesday.

They took home six golds, fours silvers and nine bronzes to finish with a total of 16 golds, 14 silvers and 29 bronzes in sixth place as at press time.

The first gold of the day came from the Sabah women’s sepak takraw in the quadrant event comprising Fsydiana Faradona, Nadillatul Rosmahani Saidin, Nurshazreyana Edy and Rohaizan Rojer @ Harun

The four defeated Sarawak 17-14,15-7 in the final to take title.

Eva Anastasia Warren took the women’s 45-48kg title in a one-sided 27-6 win over Penang’s Nur Farhana Alia Nazri in the final, and Stacy Poong Dai Hee fought well to edge Perak’s Nurul Najwa Abdullah 41-35 in the women’s 57kg category.

Their last gold was won by Hellmi Samsir in the men’s 71kg with a 26-15 victory over Azhad Haziq Abd Khalid from Sarawak.

The fours silver medal winners were Mohd Rahmad Ali Chandra in the muaythai men’s 42- 45kg, Yee Xin Ying and Doyce Lee Ye San in the squash women’s doubles and the other two from the pool by divers Julfaddli Ali and Muhammad Anilrian Normatr Abdullah in the men’s synchronised 10m platform and Loo Yie Bing in the women’s 100m free style.

The bronzes were delivered by track and field athletes Nikos Tai Lee Onn (men’s 10,000m), Pengiran Aidil Auf Hajam Ppg. Roslie (men’s 200m), Reynolds JC Majin (men’s high jump), Mohd Ahsan Atta-Ur-Rahman (men’s 1,500m), men’s 4 x 400m relay (Aubrey Aron, Muhd Fahami Samsudin, Edrick Feivel Florentus, Muhd Khalil Helmi), Chung Zi Yao (judo) and weightlifters Adriannie Jane Jasrin (women’s -49kg), Sherleyne Jounis (women’s -55kg), Vellon Ryan Munsin (men’s -67kg) and one from the pairing of Chung Zi Yao/Peader Ezra Augustin in judo (throwing: one pair).

Sabah had late on Monday also won one silver from the women’s tenpin bowling team (Nurul Amirah Amirul, Nur Aleeya Syakirah Awang Ali, Cara Loh Wai Theng) and three bronzes from silat athletes Nurtrisyah Bella Mohd Syah (women’s creative solo), Afiq Daniel Salman/Fazli Halim (men’s duet) and Fadhli Hidayat Harun (men’s individual).
