Kota Kinabalu: A Sabah "reject" won gold for Sarawak at the 2024 Sukma in Miri on Sunday.

Eldelweiss Franzel Fancey from Shotokan Karate Association failed to meet the Sukma selection criteria at the Sabah Games last year by finishing second in the kumite-68kg category.

Sarawak was quick to offer her a spot in their squad and after three months of training under coach Jarvis Julian, she delivered the first ever gold medal for Sarawak in the category.
