
The Punjab Education Department has released Rs 4.60 crore for the purchase of school uniforms for students studying in Classes I to VIII in government schools across Patiala district.
Under the scheme, all girl students enrolled in these classes, along with boys belonging to Scheduled Castes, Scheduled Tribes and Below Poverty Line categories will receive free uniforms.
A senior department official said the heads of schools have been directed to take proper measurements of students before initiating the stitching process and funds would be utilised accordingly.
