A government teacher was on Monday killed by unknown bike-borne persons near Naraingarh village falling under the Tarsikka police station in broad daylight.
The teacher has been identified as Jagdeep Singh (40), a resident of Talwandi village.
Jagdeep was posted at a government school in Gehri Mandi. He was attacked returning after dropping his daughter Komaldeep Kaur to tuitions at Jandiala Guru.
Deputy Superintendent of Police Baljit Singh said that the unknown persons attacked him with sharp-edged weapons, leaving him critically wounded.
He died on the spot.
He said the police were analysing CCTV cameras to find clues about the perpetrators.
“Though the motive behind the murder is yet to be ascertained, the police are working on different theories, including personal enmity and robbery, that may be the reason behind the incident,” said Baljit Singh.
