Paul Casey was part of The Crushers team that won the team championship at LIV Golf South Africa this week.
Crushers captain Bryson DeChambeau won the individual title in South Africa and jumped to the top of the season-long standings as a result.
Casey finished in a tie for 38th at The Club at Steyn City, and his holed putt on the final hole for birdie ensured that the Crushers won the team event by one stroke from The Southern Guards.
Paul Casey and his fellow Crushers teammates went crazy when DeChambeau defeated Jon Rahm in a playoff to win his second consecutive LIV Golf title.
DeChambeau has drastically improved his wedge play and his all-round game was in tip-top condition in South Africa this week.
It was The Crushers’ ninth team victory since LIV’s inception – more than any other team.
However, something didn’t quite sit right with Casey after the final round of LIV Golf South Africa.
Paul Casey admits he feels ‘guilty’ after LIV Golf South Africa
Casey, Charles Howell III and Anirban Lahiri spoke to the media immediately after DeChambeau’s victory in South Africa on Sunday.
Casey was asked how he was feeling after The Crushers reigned supreme in yet another LIV event.

“I think the whole of South Africa should be really, really proud. The hard work that Louis, Charl, Branden and Deano put into bringing this here, then the way it’s come to fruition, that doesn’t happen without a lot of people but mainly the fans, as well, because they’ve turned out.
“We’re standing here, and we could actually say this might be — this is giving Adelaide a run for its money.
“This was amazing. What a great golf event. Obviously a dramatic finish. I feel a little bit guilty like we stole it from them, to be honest, at the end.
“I’m not unhappy because we love to win, but you have to give them so much credit, and those guys did a wonderful job. We’re looking forward to coming back. It’s already been announced, so we can’t wait.“
Casey’s sympathy for Southern Guards an example of LIV Golf sportsmanship
Casey was obviously delighted that he and his fellow Crushers won the team championship.
However, he clearly felt sorry for Charl Schwartzel, Louis Oosthuizen, Branden Grace and Dean Burmester after the South Guards missed out on winning by a single shot in their homeland.
The four South African golfers put so much effort into the event this week but they just came up short in the end.
It wasn’t to be in the end, though, as The Crushers stepped up to the plate when it mattered most.
However, the Southern Guard team members should all be extremely proud of their efforts at The Club at Steyn City this week.
They all did their country proud.
