In an exemplary display of academic excellence, students across streams in Jalandhar recorded outstanding performances in the CBSE Class XII examinations, the results of which were declared on Wednesday.

Leading the district was Gurnoor Kaur of Cambridge Innovative School, who secured 99.2 per cent marks. Gurnoor, a humanities student, scored a perfect 100 in legal studies and artificial intelligence, 99 in geography and English, 98 in political science and 90 in history.

Aspir­ing to pursue law from National Law University, Delhi, Gurnoor has already cleared both CLAT and AILET, securing All-India rank of 681 and 201. Her father is a businessman while her mother is a homemaker.

“Along with my Class XII board examinations, I was also preparing for entrance exams to pursue law from central universities. If you have the will, everything gets managed,” she said.

Following closely was Mehakpreet Kaur, a commerce student of Swami Sant Dass Public School, who secured 98.8 per cent to attain the second position in the district.

She scored a perfect 100 in accountancy, 99 in business studies and computer science and 98 each in economics and English. Mehakpreet now aims to pursue chartered accountancy.

Known for her interest in accountancy and calligraphy, she relied largely on self study and studied nearly five hours daily after school. “I also took the help of online classes for mathematics as it was my weak subject,” she said.

Meir Singh Pandher, a super medical student of Mayor World School, secured 98.6 per cent. He scored cent per cent marks in English and artificial intelligence, 98 in chemistry, biology and mathematics and 97 in physics.

“Since I was fond of both biology and mathematics, I continued with both subjects. Mathematics is never a burden for me and I used to devote an hour daily to it,” he said.

Meir added that he had initially planned to appear for both JEE and NEET but would now focus only on NEET. His father Dr Dilbans Singh Pandher is an orthopaedic surgeon while his mother Shail Kaur Pandher is a gynaecologist.

Continuing the list of high achievers, Tamanna Garg of La Blossoms School secured 98.4 per cent in the science stream.

Shubhraj Singh from the science stream and Aarav Jain from the commerce stream, both students of Mayor World School, secured 98.2 per cent each.

Haritika Bhalla, a commerce student of Shiv Jyoti Public School, also scored 98.2 per cent and secured perfect 100 marks in both business studies and accountancy. Jigyasa Gupta of Ivy World School too secured 98.2 per cent.

Similarly, Mahi Mutneja of Innocent Hearts School scored 98 per cent in the commerce stream, while Arpan Arora from the St Soldier Group of Institutes also secured 98 per cent marks in the examinations.
