Supneet Kaur (16), a student of Gurukul Academy Public Senior Secondary School at Ubbha village in Mansa district, has brought laurels to the district by securing the first position in the Punjab School Education Board Class XII results declared on Wednesday. She scored perfect 500 out of 500 marks in the science stream.

Supneet, a non-medical student, has also previously earned recognition as a bronze medallist in fencing at the National School Games 2024-25. She aspires to clear the National Defence Academy (NDA) exam and join the Indian Air Force (IAF).

Talking to The Tribune, Supneet said, “This is a myth that students in rural areas cannot get good results. My teachers were very helpful. I did self-study for almost three hours daily, apart from attending tuition classes. I also took help of Google, YouTube and ChatGPT to clear my concepts. My teacher informed me about the result.” Her younger sister had also scored 500 out of 500 marks in her Class V exams, she added. Her younger brother is a Class III student.

Supneet’s father Raj Singh, who runs a private school in the village, expressed pride in her achievement and said, “She studied up to Class X in our own school.” Supneet’s mother Parminder Kaur works as an anganwadi worker.
