A salesman at a Woodland showroom has gone missing under suspicious circumstances after a series of misleading phone calls were made to his family from his mobile phone. The callers first claimed he had met with an accident on MG Road and later said he had been admitted to a hospital in Hyderabad. Suspecting foul play, the family alleged that he may have been kidnapped. The police have launched an investigation after registering an FIR at the Sector 14 police station here in this regard.
According to a complaint lodged by Pratap Kumar Jana, a resident of Baragada village in Odisha’s Bhadrak district, his younger brother, Krishna Chandra Jana, had been working as a salesman at the Woodland showroom in Sector 14 for the past three years, and was living in a rented accommodation in the area.
“On May 30, at around 9.30 pm, Krishna left the showroom after completing his duty. After that, his mobile phone was switched off. At about 9.30 am on May 31, our family received a call from Krishna’s phone. An unidentified caller informed us that he had met with an accident on MG Road,” Pratap said.
The family then contacted Medanta Hospital in Gurugram and the Civil Hospital in Sector 10, but found that Krishna had not been admitted to either facility, he added.
“Later, at around 2 pm, another caller informed us that Krishna had been admitted to Yashoda Hospital in Hyderabad. However, when we contacted the hospital, his name was not found in its records. Following this, we approached the police,” Pratap stated in his complaint.
