Gustavo Lopez has joined Atletico Madrid as assistant coach.
Lopez is close to Atletico coach Diego Simeone and will be part of the backroom team next season.
After time as a player with Celta Vigo and also as a sports commentator, 'Cuervo' López will have his first experience on the bench thanks to close friend and former Argentina teammate Simeone.
Lopez played 13 years in Spain, winning the Intertoto Cup with Celta in 2001.
Lopez joins a coaching staff that will continue with Nelson Vivas as assistant coach, Hernán Bonvicini as assistant coach, 'Profe' Ortega as physical trainer and Pablo Vercellone as goalkeeping coach.
