SANDAKAN: Umno Sabah Information Chief Datuk Suhaimi Nasir criticised Parti Gagasan Rakyat Sabah (Gagasan Rakyat) President Datuk Seri Hajiji Noor for raising the attempted coup early this year, which was initiated by a faction in the party.
He said Hajiji should know the reason for the attempt, which saw Sabah Umno head Datuk Bung Mokhtar and several others losing their Deputy CM and other posts.
“Umno’s anger reached its peak when Hajiji, without consulting Barisan Nasional (BN) Sabah, brought the support of the Gabungan Rakyat Sabah (GRS) Members of Parliament to Tan Sri Muhyiddin Yassin to become the Prime Minister of Malaysia after the 15th General Election,” he claimed.
He said a political struggle requires sacrifice and loyalty, and that Sabahans should not forget who comprised the leadership of Gagasan Rakyat today.
“They all started from Umno. After Umno lost, everyone joined Bersatu. And, after Bersatu lost, they formed a new party called Gagasan Rakyat.
“Currently, many positions at the State constituency and village levels have also been changed. Any leader will be terminated if he does not join Gagasan Rakyat,” he claimed in response to Hajiji’s speech at Gagasan Rakyat’s first annual general assembly.
Hajiji blamed the Umno faction for the attempted coup which was also known as “The Kinabalu Move”.
Suhaimi said he fully supports Umno Sabah Chairman Datuk Seri Bung Moktar Radin who explained the situation in Umno Sabah during the GRS-BN government.
Bung Moktar claimed Hajiji broke his promises to the Umno Sabah.
He said the first incident was when he was supposed to be appointed Deputy Chief Minister and Public Works Minister.
But when he was sworn in, Hajiji announced Datuk Seri Masidi Manjun as State Public Works Minister.
He said after the formation of the GRS-BN government, Hajiji bagged almost all the GLC positions in Sabah.
Bung Moktar also said Hajiji broke his promise to work with Umno to develop Sabah.
