LAHAD DATU: Swift action by security guards, plantation workers and auxiliary police members prevented a fire from spreading at SK Alamania, Jalan Jeroco, on Friday.
The district Fire and Rescue Station Chief, Sumsoa Rashid said the security guard, plantation workers as well as the auxiliary police members used 60 fire extinguishers to control the fire before the firefighters arrived.
Sumsoa said his department received a distress call following the fire at 2.45pm and deployed a team of firefighters to the scene, about 58km from the station.
He said, upon arrival, the team found that the fire had destroyed the hall.
“The fire was put out by the security guards, plantation workers and auxiliary police members before the team arrival.
“The team later inspected the scene to ensure there was no other danger before calling off the operation at 6.02pm,” he added.
