A Haryana Police constable was killed and two head constables were seriously injured in a road accident on the KMP Expressway in Nuh district late on Wednesday night. The accident took place near Khera Khalilpur when a speeding dumper hit a Dial-112 police vehicle.
According to the police, the Dial-112 team had reached the spot after receiving information about an accident involving a Tata pickup on the KMP Expressway. The policemen were carrying out relief work and managing traffic when a speeding dumper coming from the Rewasan side lost control and rammed the police vehicle. The dumper driver fled the scene, leaving behind the vehicle.
Eyewitnesses said the impact was severe and the police vehicle was badly damaged. All three policemen suffered critical injuries. Constable Balwan died on the spot, while the injured head constables were taken to a nearby hospital, where they are undergoing treatment.
Senior police officers reached the scene after receiving information about the accident. The body of Constable Balwan was sent for post-mortem examination.
“We have registered an FIR and are searching for the absconding dumper driver. Initial investigations suggest speeding and negligence caused the accident,” said a senior police officer.
