GWM Malaysia officially confirmed that the GWM Haval H7 Hi4 PHEV is heading to local showrooms soon, complete with local assembly (CKD) planned.

However, it was earlier planned to be assembled at the EP Manufacturing Berhad (EPMB) facility in Pegoh Industrial Park, Melaka. Known globally as the Haval Raptor in China, this rugged, boxy off-road SUV made its local debut at KLIMS before being confirmed as a CKD model to sit side by side with the popular Haval H6 SUV.

Now people close to the matter have shared with us news that Haval H7 Hi4 PHEV assembly will be done at Inokom in Kulim due to production issues at EPMB.

This Haval H7 Hi4 PHEV is aimed squarely at the booming boxy-SUV trend (see the sales success of the Jetour T2 and T1) as it combines aggressive 4×4 styling with GWM’s advanced Hi4 plug-in hybrid technology which delivers great fuel economy and battery only driving (EV driving) at a possible 115km (WLTP).

Meanwhile, GWM has been quietly building momentum over the past few years. And that steady growth has now culminated in the Chinese automaker recording its strongest-ever first half locally, with 3,166 vehicles delivered between January and June 2026, up a healthy 42.4% year-on-year.

After shifting 1,294 vehicles in the first quarter, GWM then delivered a further 1,872 units in Q2, representing a healthy 44.7% quarter-on-quarter increase. Those strong results were enough to propel the brand into 11th place among Malaysia’s best-selling automotive marques.
