NABAWAN: Police are searching for a 17-year-old Form Six student who was reported missing after leaving her family home in Kampung Bahagia C here in the early hours of Aug 4.
Nasazina Nasip, a student at SMK Nabawan, was last seen by her sister in her bedroom at around 1.30am playing games on her mobile phone before she was discovered missing at 5am.
Keningau District Police Chief Supt Yampil Anak Garai said the teenager’s sister lodged a police report at 6.15pm on Aug 6 after search efforts failed and attempts to reach her turned-off phone proved unsuccessful.
Investigations revealed this is the second time Nasazina has left home without her family's knowledge, following an incident in January when she returned a day later from a friend's house in Papar.
The family home has no closed-circuit television (CCTV) cameras or perimeter fencing, and relatives stated she had not complained of any disputes nor shown signs of personal trouble.
The missing girl is the fifth of seven siblings, whose father passed away in 2022 and whose mother is currently recovering from a stroke.
Anyone with information on her whereabouts is urged to step forward and assist the investigating officer, Insp Ong Kok Wei, with the ongoing case.
