The victim, Norhazwani Ibrahim, worked with the Malaysian Border Control and Protection Agency (AKPS). Her eldest brother, Amran Ibrahim, 59, told Sinar Harian that he initially could not believe the news when another sibling called him at around 7.30pm to inform him of her death.

Amran said he contacted the police station himself and was told that his youngest sister had died after being stabbed. The woman’s husband reportedly surrendered to police following the incident, which was reported to authorities at around 8.30pm.

Family knew couple were facing marital problems

According to Amran, Norhazwani was the youngest of nine siblings and was known as a cheerful person who rarely spoke about her personal struggles. However, the family knew that she and her husband had been experiencing marital difficulties and that she was in the process of seeking a divorce.

He also claimed that her husband had been released from prison just days before the incident after serving a sentence for a drug-related offence.

Amran said another brother who lives in Kelantan had stayed overnight at Norhazwani’s home the day before her death. At the time, the couple appeared to be on normal terms, and the brother had encouraged them to maintain their relationship and avoid arguments.

Two young children now in relative’s care

Norhazwani and her husband had been married for seven years and had two children, aged five and six. Following her death, the children were placed in the care of another sister in Kelantan. The family said they were devastated by what happened and would leave the investigation and any further action to the authorities.

Her body was taken to Tuanku Ja’afar Hospital in Seremban for further procedures, with a post-mortem scheduled for Saturday morning. Her remains were then expected to be brought back to her hometown in Kelantan for burial.

Negeri Sembilan police chief Datuk Alzafny Ahmad confirmed that police had received information about the incident at around 8.30pm. The case is being investigated under Section 302 of the Penal Code for murder.
