MANILA, Philippines — A high chance of rains overnight was expected in parts of southern Luzon.
The easterlies were affecting parts of southern Luzon and Visayas, based on the 5 p.m. weather update of the Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical and Astronomical Services Administration (Pagasa).
"So, a high chance of rains overnight is still to be expected here in some parts of southern Luzon including Quezon province, also here in the Bicol Region, Mindoro provinces, Marinduque, Romblon, and also here in the northern part of Palawan," Pagasa Weather Specialist Benison Estareja said in the weather update.
Estareja said that in the Visayas, Western Visayas would experience the most rainfall.

Estareja said that "the chance of rains is still high" on Wednesday in southern Luzon including Rizal, Laguna, Quezon, Aurora, Bicol, Mindoro provinces, Marinduque, and Romblon because of the easterlies. The rains would be generally light to moderate rains which sometimes intensifies so, Estareja said, "still take care against the threats of floods and landslides."
As to north Luzon, he told the public to expect the effect of the northeasterly windflow. The skies in north Luzon was expected to be partly cloudy to cloudy. Estareja said that "there is just a chance of isolated light rains."

Based on the 24-hour public weather forecast issued by Pagasa at 4 p.m. on Tuesday, Western Visayas and Eastern Visayas would experience cloudy skies "with scattered rains and thunderstorms." Flash floods or landslides "due to moderate to at times heavy rains" were possible, based on the 24-hour public weather forecast.
As to the southern part of the Visayas and a large part of Palawan, Estareja told the public to expect the skies to be a bit overcast before noon. He added that the chance of rains "is high from noon to evening so bring an umbrella and take care against the threat of flood and a landslide."
As to Mindanao, he told the public to expect "fair weather conditions" on Wednesday. The skies were expected to be partly cloudy and sometimes sunny from morning to noon. "In the afternoon to evening, there is still a chance of localized thunderstorms or isolated thunderstorms especially here in Northern Mindanao, in the Caraga region, and the northern part of Zamboanga Peninsula," he said.
