MANILA, Philippines — Brief rains were possible in Luzon, based on the latest forecast of the Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical and Astronomical Services Administration (Pagasa).
In the 5 p.m. weather update, Pagasa Weather Specialist John Manalo said the Intertropical Convergence Zone (ITCZ) was bringing cloudiness affecting Palawan, the Visayas, and Mindanao. He said the additional cloud formations would contribute to an increased chance of rain in the said areas.
The northeasterly windflow, he said, was causing cloudiness especially over the Cagayan Valley region, a big part of the Cordillera Administrative Region, and Aurora which could cause light rains or rains.
He added that the meeting of easterlies with the windflow was causing cloudiness over Bicol, Quezon, and Marinduque. This meant that the chance of rains was relatively high in these places, he said.
As to the rest of Luzon including Metro Manila, Manalo said that there was less cloudiness but that there were "patches" of cloudiness that could bring rains in the form of thunderstorms. "So, this means that brief rains are still possible for specific places," he said.
"What we are experiencing now will persist over the next two to three days. So, most likely, we will experience the same weather condition tomorrow (Friday)," Manalo said.
It would remain cloudy in Palawan, the Visayas, and Mindanao on Friday, he said.
