MANILA, Philippines — The chance of rain was high up to Thursday morning in Central Visayas, Eastern Visayas, Caraga, and Davao Oriental, said the Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical and Astronomical Services Administration (Pagasa).
"On this last day of September, we still have rains in several parts of the Visayas and Mindanao. That is still due to the Intertropical Convergence Zone or ITCZ," Pagasa Weather Specialist Benison Estareja said in Filipino and English in the 5 p.m. weather update on Wednesday.
"The chance of rains is still high from this afternoon to tomorrow morning over Central Visayas, Eastern Visayas, Caraga region, and Davao Oriental," Estareja said.
The rest of Mindanao, he said, was also affected by the ITCZ. "There will still be occasional rains there overnight," Estareja said.
As to the rest of the Visayas and a big part of Luzon including Metro Manila, Pagasa saw partly cloudy to cloudy skies overnight.
As to the weather on Thursday, Oct. 1, Estareja told the public to expect partly cloudy and occasionally cloudy skies in a big part of Luzon.
He said there was a chance of light rains before noon in the Bicol Region, Quezon Province, and Marinduque.
As to the rest of Luzon including Metro Manila, partly cloudy to at times cloudy skies were expected from Thursday morning to Thursday afternoon. Estareja said that by noon to evening, there would be localized thunderstorms. "So, isolated rainshowers or thunderstorms that have something to do with the hot weather by noon...," he said.
As to the weather in Eastern Visayas on Thursday, Estareja told the public to "expect overcast weather" accompanied by scattered rainshowers and thunderstorms due to the trough of the tropical depression outside the Philippine Area of Responsibility (PAR). The tropical depression was not expected to enter the PAR.
As to the weather in the rest of the Visayas and Palawan on Thursday, Estareja told the public to expect partly cloudy to cloudy skies. He said there was a chance of rains that would be more frequent by Thursday afternoon to Thursday evening and would not be continuous.
Estareja said as to Mindanao that "by tomorrow, the chance of rain is highest" in the Caraga region due to the trough.
Pagasa forecast fair Thursday weather in the rest of Mindanao. Estareja said that the skies would be clear from Thursday morning to noon. Hot and humid weather on Thursday noon was expected.
