MANILA, Philippines — The Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical and Astronomical Services Administration (Pagasa) forecast good weather in a big part of Luzon on Tuesday but advised the public to prepare for the chance of rains in the afternoon.
"Let us expect that in a big part of Luzon, good weather will continue. But by afternoon, prepare for the chance of isolated and brief rainshowers, thunderstorms lasting two to three hours," Pagasa Weather Specialist Charmagne Varilla said in Filipino in the 5 p.m. Public Weather Forecast on Monday.
Pagasa forecast that Palawan, Central Visayas, Negros Island Region, Zamboanga Peninsula, Northern Mindanao, and Caraga would continue to experience rains due to the Intertropical Convergence Zone (ITCZ).
"In the remaining part of the Visayas and Mindanao, let us expect lighter" brief rainshowers by the afternoon, Varilla said.
She said the ITCZ was bringing moderate to occasionally heavy rains in Palawan, the entire Visayas, and Mindanao.
As to Palawan, she said rains would continue up to Wednesday and told the public to expect better weather by Tuesday.
She told the public to expect better weather to prevail in the Visayas on Wednesday up to Friday.
As to Mindanao, she said that "we are expecting such a weather pattern too." Although, she added, the trough of an approaching storm located outside the Philippine Area of Responsibility could affect parts of Caraga and Davao Oriental.
