Labuan: The Labuan Chinese Chamber of Commerce wants the Malaysian Aviation Commission (Mavcom) and the Ministry of Transport (MOT) to intervene and check the “free hand” that airlines now enjoy to fix fares on domestic routes at peak seasons at astronomical rates.
Its Chairman Datuk Wong Kii Yii said this in reference to a viralised Labuan-Kuala Lumpur air ticket which showed the cost of an economy one-way seat at RM2,214. At most times the fares could range from RM748 and less.
“The authorities need to query the airline (Malaysia Airlines) on this and get a response just like when other products are over-priced and queried,” said Wong.
