KOTA KINABALU: Senator Datuk Edward Linggu Bukut hailed the Kota Kinabalu High Court's ruling as a historic moment and a major victory for the people of Sabah in upholding the state’s constitutional and MA63 rights.
He said the court’s decision to declare the federal government’s actions over Sabah’s 40pc revenue entitlement as ultra vires and unlawful proved that Sabah’s struggle for its rights was based on justice and truth.
“This is not just a legal victory, but one of dignity. It’s time Sabah’s rights are fully respected as enshrined in the Constitution.
"Decades of non-compliance have severely impacted our development and wellbeing,” he said.
Edward added that the ruling should mark a new chapter in federal-state relations, grounded in trust, fairness, and equal partnership.
“Sabah is not asking for more than what was promised, only for what is rightfully ours,” he stressed.
