The Sonepat police have succeeded in arresting three accused, allegedly involved in murdering a history sheeter outside the Kharkhoda court premises on May 16, after a brief encounter occurred near Rewli village in Murthal area of the district on Sunday afternoon.

Two more accused have already been arrested by the police into the matter. Narender Singh Kadyan, DCP, Crime, said the accused have been identified as Sahil, Sohan and Sahil of Dubaldhan village of Jhajjar district.

Notably, Neeraj of Dubaldhan, who was a history sheeter in police record, had come to attend a hearing in the marital dispute case in a court at Kharkhoda on May 16.

After attending the case hearing, he along with his associates came out from the court premises at 12.15pm, meanwhile a white colour Brezza car hit him, after which he fell down on the road. After that three youths came out from the car and opened several rounds of bullets on him. Neeraj died at the spot.

The police have registered a case on the complaint of Satyawan, brother of the deceased. In his complaint he alleged that Avan, his son Sahil and Aryan of Dubaldhan village were behind Neeraj’s murder.

During the investigation, the name of the nephew of Amit of Murthal, Vikas of Majra, a woman and Vicky of Pai Kidoli came to light in the conspiracy of Neeraj’s murder, the DCP said.

The Special Unit for Anti-Gangster (SUAG) led by Inspector Ajay Dhankar have arrested two accused – Sunny and Avan in the matter already.

On Sunday, Inspector Dhankar received a tip-off that the accused involved in murder of Neeraj were in Rewli area. Following the tipp off the SUAG team laid a trap. The police team asked the accused to surrender but they opened fire on the police team.

In retaliation, the police team also gave a reply, in which the miscreants sustained bullet injuries in their legs. The police teams nabbed all three accused and recovered five pistols and cartridges from their possessions, he said.

All three accused have been admitted at the Civil Hospital in Sonepat, the DCP Kadyan maintained.
