Hoffenheim have extended the contract with coach Christian Ilzer, the Bundesliga club said in a statement on Friday.

They didn't disclose the length of the new deal, but accordint to media reports he extended until 2031.

"Chris Ilzer has done an outstanding job and taken our team to a new level on the field. Chris embodies a clear vision of football, high intensity, and a modern leadership style. He brings great quality, passion, and expertise to the table," sporting director Andreas Schicker said.

Ilzer joined Hoffenheim in November 2024 and led them to a fifth place in the Bundesliga and qualification to the Europa League, their best result since the 2017-18 season.

"The club offers excellent conditions and has set ambitious goals. The most recent season has shown that we are on the right track and that, through consistent hard work, we can achieve a great deal together," Ilzer said.
