Driving against the flow of traffic is a serious traffic offence that endangers the lives of all road users. Under Section 42 of Malaysia’s Road Transport Act 1987, motorists who drive recklessly or in a manner that is dangerous to the public can face severe penalties, including fines, imprisonment, and the suspension or revocation of their driving licence upon conviction.

Authorities have repeatedly reminded drivers to remain alert and comply with traffic regulations to prevent avoidable accidents and loss of life. At the time of writing, the Royal Malaysia Police (PDRM) has yet to release an official statement regarding the matter.
