MANILA, Philippines — Lanao del Sur 1st District Rep. Zia Alonto Adiong and Kabataan Rep. Renee Co were named as the House of Representatives' spokesmen in the impeachment trial of Vice President Sara Duterte.
Batangas 2nd District Rep. Gerville Luistro, the House's lead public prosecutor, made the announcement in a press conference on Tuesday.
In a statement, Adiong extended his "heartfelt gratitude to the distinguished 11-member prosecution panel and to the House of Representatives for the trust and confidence they have reposed in me."
"I am grateful for this opportunity to serve the Filipino people in upholding the rule of law and the principles enshrined in our Constitution," Adiong said in a statement.
"Together with my colleagues in the prosecution panel, we remain steadfast in our resolve to present the evidence with clarity, fairness, and transparency. We are guided solely by the pursuit of justice and the public interest, ensuring that this historic process strengthens our democratic institutions," he said.
