Keyshawn Davis says Jake Paul earned his respect after seeing the YouTuber-turned-boxer spar with Shakur Stevenson.

The lightweight contender recently reflected on the session while discussing a potential future fight with Paul.

For Davis, watching the sparring session firsthand changed his perspective about Paul’s commitment to boxing.

Keyshawn Davis recalls watching Jake Paul spar with Shakur Stevenson

Davis spoke about the moment during Adin Ross’ livestream, where he was asked about the possibility of fighting Jake Paul.

“Hell yeah, I’ll fight Jake Paul. You know I was there when Shakur [Stevenson] sparred Jake Paul… Yeah, I was there,” Davis said.

The Olympic silver medalist explained that he witnessed the sparring session between Paul and Stevenson, one of the most technically gifted fighters in boxing.

Seeing that interaction up close gave Davis a different understanding of how seriously Paul approaches the sport.

Davis went on to describe how Paul’s attitude during the sparring session stood out to him.

“Jake Paul is serious about this s___. I ain’t gonna lie. You know, but there are levels, of course, you know what I’m saying.

“But just watching Jake Paul and how serious he’s really trying to hit Shakur [when] he really can’t, I’m just like, damn, alright, I respect it. I respect him,” Davis stated.

While Davis made it clear that there are still levels in boxing between Paul and elite fighters like Stevenson, he admitted that Paul’s dedication impressed him.

The comments add another layer to the ongoing discussion about Paul’s place in the sport as he continues to pursue fights against established boxers.
