Acting against illegal mining activities in the Kandi region, Hajipur police have registered a case against unidentified persons allegedly involved in unauthorised excavation operations that have reportedly been continuing in the area for several years.

According to Station House Officer (SHO) Inspector Amarjit Kaur, the action was initiated following a complaint submitted by Mining Inspector Hardeep Singh of Mukerian. The complaint, duly endorsed by the concerned authorities, was forwarded to Hajipur police station for necessary legal action.

Acting swiftly on the complaint, ASI Ravinder Singh, accompanied by a police team, visited the site to assess the situation and verify the allegations. During the inspection, the police found evidence indicating recent illegal mining activity on land located in village Nikku Chak.

Preliminary investigations revealed that heavy machinery, including a tipper truck and a poclane machine, had allegedly been used to carry out unauthorised excavation at the site. The police team documented the prevailing conditions and submitted its findings for further action.

Based on the complaint lodged by the Mining Department and the observations made during the spot inspection, police registered a case under the relevant provisions of the mining laws against unidentified persons involved in the illegal extraction of minerals.

SHO Amarjit Kaur stated that further investigation is underway to identify those responsible for the illegal mining operations.
