Teams of the Yamunanagar district administration seized 15 vehicles allegedly involved in illegal mining and the transportation of illegally mined minerals during the past week.

Officials of the Mines and Geology Department also got two FIRs registered against accused persons in connection with illegal mining activities during the period.

“A total of 15 vehicles, including five tractor-trailers and 10 trucks, were seized by various teams of the district administration. A fine of Rs 4.5 lakh was imposed in different cases, while two FIRs were registered in connection with illegal mining,” said Deputy Commissioner Preeti.

Following the directions of Chief Minister Nayab Singh Saini, the Director General of the Mines and Geology Department, KM Pandurang, was personally monitoring enforcement activities across the state.

She said the district administration remained vigilant and was keeping a close watch on areas prone to illegal mining.

“The administration is continuously taking strict action against illegal mining and the illegal transportation of mining minerals in the district,” she said.

Preeti added that the drive against illegal mining and the unauthorised transportation of minerals would continue and strict legal action would be taken against those found violating the law.
