Kota Kinabalu: An entertainment outlet caretaker was fined RM4,000 or three months jail by the Magistrate’s Court here Friday for running an entertainment centre without a licence.

Chan Jie En, 22, pleaded guilty before Magistrate Stephanie Sherron Abbie to committing the offence at a premises on the fifth floor of T1 building, Bundusan, Penampang, at 2.44am on May 12, this year.

According to the prosecution, a police team raided the place and found the music still playing loudly and that the premises without licence.

Chan was charged under Section 3 of the Public Entertainment Ordinance 1958 which provides for a fine of up to RM50,000 or up to one year jail or both, on conviction.

Ardi Hasbi admitted to committing affray with three other men with one who is still at large at 12.15pm on Dec 1, 2022 at the Borneo Umi Takara factory, KKIP, Jalan Sepanggar.

He was charged under Section 160 of the Penal Code which carries a jail term of up to six months or fine or up to RM1,000 or both, on conviction.

Meanwhile, a 56-year-old man was fined RM1,000 or one month jail for having 4D gambling paraphernalia, five years ago.

Justin Thien admitted to committing the offence at 2.30pm on Jan 3, 2018 at a coffee shop in Telipok town.

He was charged under Section 9(1) of the Common Gaming House Act which carries a jail term of up to six months or fine of up to RM5,000 or both, on conviction.
