
KUNAK: Two premises were detected making illegal water connections and also using water pumps to get more water supply in an operation, here, on Tuesday.
The 9am operation by the Kunak Water Department found the premises getting water supply without a meter.
The first operation involved a premises with an illegal connection from the main pipe belonging to the Water Department using a two-inch pipe.
The pipe was found to be used to supply water directly to the shop lot in the premises, which is an offence under Section 49(b) of the Sabah Water Supply Enactment.

Read more In the second operation, it was found that the premises used a water pump to obtain more water supply, which is an offence under Section 56 of the same Enactment.
Kunak Water Department officer, Mohd Suhaizan Mohd Yunus, advised users in the district to be prudent when using treated water and to always be frugal by not letting tap water flow when not in use.
He also urged the public to report theft and leakage of water pipes to the Sabah Water Department’s Careline number at 088-326888.
