
TAWAU: Police detained a 37-year-old illegal immigrant who went on a rampage brandishing a knife, suspected under the influence of drugs, in Kampung Batu 4 Jalan Apas early Tuesday.
The incident, which disrupted the peaceful village atmosphere, was reported to police at about 12.55am, prompting an immediate operation to locate and arrest the suspect.
Tawau District Police Chief ACP Jasmin said the suspect was detained outside his home. He was wielding a sharp knife measuring about 24.5 centimetres.

Jasmin urged the public to remain vigilant and promptly report any suspicious activities or criminal behaviour to authorities for collective safety.
Reports of foreigners wielding knives and machetes in public were also reported in Sandakan and elsewhere early this year.
