Delhi Chief Minister Rekha Gupta on Wednesday directed all government departments to ensure that welfare schemes announced in the Delhi Budget are implemented within stipulated timeframe, warning that departments failing to utilise allocated funds properly could face cuts in the next Budget.

Chairing a virtual review meeting with senior officials and heads of departments from the Jan Seva Sadan under the work from home arrangement, the Chief Minister reviewed the progress of Budget announcements, development projects and public welfare schemes across departments.

Emphasising that the government’s focus was not merely on announcements but on delivering results on the ground, Gupta instructed officials to speed up implementation of all schemes and ensure timely completion of projects.

“No negligence in public welfare works will be tolerated,” she said during the meeting.

The Chief Minister also reviewed Delhi’s monsoon preparedness and directed departments concerned to complete cleaning and desilting of drains across the city before the onset of rains. She said preventing waterlogging remained among the government’s top priorities and warned against any laxity in this regard.

On environmental protection and pollution control measures, Gupta asked departments to undertake large-scale plantation and grass-cover drives at vacant plots and dust-prone areas. She stressed the need for better coordination among agencies to make the Capital cleaner and greener.

Reviewing school infrastructure ahead of the new academic session, the Chief Minister directed officials to ensure timely whitewashing of government schools, repair of toilets and proper arrangements for clean drinking water for students.

The meeting also focused on implementation of schemes related to solar power and water conservation, with Gupta asking departments to work together to make Delhi a model city in energy conservation and water management.

She further directed departments to use social media platforms more effectively to disseminate information related to government welfare schemes and departmental achievements among the public.

During the review, the Chief Minister also stressed strict compliance with the work from home arrangement and the “Metro Monday” initiative, saying the measures would help reduce fuel consumption, traffic congestion and pollution levels in the city.

Officials were also directed to regularly upload details of pending and important projects on the “PM Pragati Portal” for effective monitoring. The meeting reviewed biometric attendance, grievance redressal mechanisms, plantation drives, onboarding of employees on the iGOT platform and the status of various development projects.
