All industrial units operating in the district have come under scrutiny following multiple fire incidents that claimed two lives and left several workers injured in Bahadurgarh town in the recent past.
Taking serious note of the tragedies, Deputy Commissioner Varsha Khangwal has constituted a special inspection squad comprising officials from the Haryana State Pollution Control Board (HSPCB), HSIIDC, Labour and Industries Departments to conduct a comprehensive survey of all industrial units in the district.
“The squad will inspect all establishments across the district to assess compliance with labour laws, worker training requirements, safety standards and structural norms. The team will visit factories and submit daily inspection reports to me,” said the DC.
She further said that proceedings for closure would be initiated against units found in violation of the prescribed norms. “No industrial unit will be permitted to operate until it fully complies with all mandatory safety and regulatory requirements,” added the DC.
Meanwhile, she has also issued prohibitory orders under Section 163 of the BNSS, 2023, banning illegal industrial activities in residential and agricultural areas as well as the burning of plastic and other waste materials across the district.
According to the orders, complaints have been received regarding illegal industrial activities on residential and agricultural land in villages such as Parnala, Nizampur Road, Bamnoli, Kanonda, Kherpur, Ladrawan, Sidipur, Lowa Kalan, Lowa Khurd and other surrounding areas, along with the burning of plastic and waste.
These activities have been contributing to environmental pollution and adversely affecting public health and the quality of life of local residents.
“For larger public interest, a complete ban has been imposed on all such illegal industrial activities, including the burning of plastic and waste and the operation of industrial units using electricity connections without obtaining the mandatory consent from the HSPCB,” said the DC.
The orders have come into immediate effect and will remain in force until August 3.
Various departments, including police, Municipal Council, Jhajjar, Power, District Town Planner, Block Development and Panchayat Office, Regional Office of HSPCB Bahadurgarh and the Municipal Council Bahadurgarh, have been tasked with ensuring strict compliance with the directions.
The DC warned that any violation of the orders would invite legal action. She appealed to residents to cooperate with the administration and comply with the directions in the interest of environmental protection and public health.
