Kota Kinabalu: Zara Qairina Mahathir’s stepsister revealed five screenshots of Facebook messages relating to an argument between her and her stepmother, Noraidah Lamat, to the Coroner’s Court Tuesday.
Malianah Mahathir, 25, said she received the screenshots from her father after she argued with Noraidah on Facebook when she was 13, and had kept them until now.
She said she was unsure of the year the messages were sent, but the dates shown on the screenshots included June 11, Aug 21 and Sept 5, adding that she did not have her own device at the time and accessed Facebook using family members’ devices.
During cross-examination by counsel Shahlan Jufri, Malianah admitted she had only assumed that her father had created the Facebook account under Zara’s name because he had also created Facebook accounts for her and her three siblings.
Malianah also acknowledged that some words in the messages she attributed to Noraidah were commonly used by young people, but maintained that she was certain Noraidah had written them based on her experience of living with her stepmother.
