In a statement, IRB said a tax risk analysis had found discrepancies between the individuals’ declared income and their asset holdings.

PUTRAJAYA - The Inland Revenue Board (IRB) has opened investigations into individuals identified in the Royal Commission of Inquiry (RCI) report on Lembaga Tabung Haji (TH).

In a statement, IRB said a tax risk analysis had found discrepancies between the individuals’ declared income and their asset holdings.

"IRB officers had raided several related premises to gather information, examine documents and verify facts relevant to the investigations.

"IRB wishes to clarify that all reviews and investigations are conducted professionally, with integrity and in accordance with existing tax laws, without prejudice against any party.

"Further action will be determined only after assessing the information and evidence obtained during the review,” it said.

On July 29, the Department of Islamic Development Malaysia (Jakim) published on its website the 211-page RCI report on Tabung Haji’s management and operations between 2014 and 2020. - BERNAMA
