Argentina face Egypt in the last-16 of the World Cup hoping for avoid another knockout-stage scare in their pursuit of back-to-back titles.

That will give Egypt hope of pulling off an upset against Lionel Scaloni’s side, with Mohamed Salah hoping to spearhead the Pharaohs towards more history after sealing their first-ever knockouts win with a shootout triumph over Australia.

Lionel Messi took his goal tally to seven for the tournament against Cape Verde but will need to keep up his stellar scoring form in the race for the golden boot, with Kylian Mbappe matching his pace.

Egypt are hopeful left-back Karim Hafez will be able to play despite being forced off against Australia - if he was to miss out, the Pharaohs would be in trouble in the position that squares off against Messi, with back-up Ahmed Fatouh set to be absent.
